Welcome to Team Saint Louis

With the representation of three athletes at the inaugural Gay Games in San Francisco, CA in 1982, Team Saint Louis was born!

Team Saint Louis (TSL, Inc.) encourages and supports involvement in team and individual sports within the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender , Allied (LGBTA) and broader community in the St. Louis Metropolitan Area. To meet this objective, TSL strives to promote excellence, integrity, and good sporting conduct in individual and team sports.

TSL serves as a clearinghouse for information about the various sports teams, clubs, and events in the St. Louis metropolitan area, and hosts gay-friendly sports leagues for individuals and teams of varying skill levels. It is a volunteer-based organization that also provides information and support to both individuals and active sport clubs.

TSL coordinates the area’s delegation to the Gay Games and Cultural Festival, which is held every four years. The last games were in Cologne, Germany in the summer of 2010. The 9th edition of the Gay Games will be held in Cleveland, OH in 2014.

In the summer of 2013, the 3rd edition of the World OutGames will be hosted by Antwerp, Belgium.

ATHLETE SPOTLIGHT

Betty Neeley

The St. Louis LGBTA sports community has a long-standing and much respected history. We’re fortunate to have an avid-sports enthusiast who embraces the embodiment of the Gay Games: participation, inclusion and personal best. She is affectionately called the “matriarch” of Team Saint Louis. We honor her enthusiasm, commitment and passion to Team Saint Louis and the St. Louis LGBTA community. Team Saint Louis honors Betty Neeley with the inaugural Team Saint Louis Hall of Fame Legacy Award (2011).
