Indoor volleyball began in the 1980’s at the Maplewood Salvation Army gymnasium. For the safety and protection of the players, one needed an invitation from a current player and a “password” was needed to enter the gym.

*The place for Same-sex ballroom & Latin dance in St. Louis. Open to all ages, levels of ability, and genders. Classes are very beginner friendly. Bring a friend, a partner or come solo - no dance partner required. SLED members have competed and medaled at the World Outgames, the North American Outgames and various national competitions.
*St. Louis Gay and Lesbian Association of Summer Softball is dedicated to the promotion of amateur softball for all adult persons regardless of age, race, creed, religion, sex, or national origin, with special emphasis on the participation of members of the gay community. Founded in 1990, with over 200 ballplayers, coaches, and fans, participants play, cheer, and have fun at Forest Park every Sunday in the summer, and every Friday night in the fall. G.L.A.S.S. teams also proudly represent our city by playing in tournaments throughout the United States and Canada. St. Louis GLASS is a member of the North American Gay Amateur Athletic Association (NAGAAA).
*The St. Louis Crusaders RFC is a USA Rugby Division III club and a member of the International Gay Rugby Association and Board (IGRAB). It is a socially and ethnically diverse group of men, dedicated to the sport of rugby. The Crusaders compete in Division III of the Missouri Rugby Football Union, and are members of the International Gay Rugby Association and Board (IGRAB).
*St. Louis Frontrunners is a non-competitive club for Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender and Straight-Allied runners and walkers of all abilities. The group meets at 9:00 am on Saturdays ands 6:00 pm Tuesdays and Thursdays in Forest Park at the Visitor & Education Center.
The runs/walks cover varied distance, from one mile to four miles, to accommodate the interests of everyone.
The St. Louis Frontrunners club belongs to a network of International Frontrunners clubs. Frontrunners clubs around the world have borrowed their name from the title of Patricia Nell Warren's novel, "The Frontrunner", about a gay runner training for the Olympics.
Frontrunners share the commitment the author expresses to work to enhance the quality of our lives as gay people and as gay athletes.
*Big Crank Cycling is an LGBT group of cycling enthusiasts of varying backgrounds, skill levels and interests. From recreational cyclists to road racers, to folks thinking about getting involved to people whose lives have been changed by the sport, there is something here for everyone with a bicycle.
*The Show Me St Louis Classic Invitational Bowling Tournament is a U.S. Bowling Congress (USBC) sanctioned tournament and is a mixed handicap competition open to men and women by invitation only. All USBC rules apply except as noted in the tournament rules. The tournament takes place annually on the Saturday and Sunday of Labor Day Weekend in St. Louis

The Moaners bowl on Mondays at Tropicana Bowl in Clayton. The League is sanctioned by USBC and the International Gay Bowling Organization (IGBO).
* GWGRA promotes and supports the sport of rodeo in the gay community by appropriate education and training of its members. It encourages member participation in local and national rodeo events and aims to produce a group of well-rounded individuals interested in country and western-related events, dance, or programs.
St. Louis Mo Climbers is a club for queer and ally rock climbers in the Gateway City. Membership is open to climbers from experts to beginners. Never climbed before? Join us and we'll show you the way. A climbing session amongst friends is good for the soul -- and the forearms.
Club meets every Monday night around 8 PM at Upper Limits Rock Climbing Gym downtown (just west of Union Station - 326 South 21st Street, St Louis, MO). Daily pass is $10 on Mondays for members of the club. For details on renting gear, visit upperlimits.com.

The St. Louis LGBTA sports community has a long-standing and much respected history. We’re fortunate to have an avid-sports enthusiast who embraces the embodiment of the Gay Games: participation, inclusion and personal best. She is affectionately called the “matriarch” of Team Saint Louis. We honor her enthusiasm, commitment and passion to Team Saint Louis and the St. Louis LGBTA community. Team Saint Louis honors Betty Neeley with the inaugural Team Saint Louis Hall of Fame Legacy Award (2011).
